Cosmo is a two-year-old Chihuahua mix who has spent the past year in our care growing, maturing, and getting ready to find his forever home. When he first arrived at just nine months old, he needed a little extra time to build confidence and settle in -but now this spunky little guy is ready to meet his perfect match!
Cosmo is everything you’d expect from a young Chihuahua-energetic, playful, and just a little bit sassy. He absolutely adores his toys and going for walks, and while he has plenty of energy, it doesn’t take much to tucker him out.
Like many rescues, Cosmo can be a bit overwhelmed in certain situations. He may growl if he feels unsure, but all he really needs is a little space to regroup. Within a few minutes (or with the help of a tasty snack!), his silly, loving personality shines through again. For this reason, Cosmo is looking for a patient and understanding family who will give him the time he needs to build trust at his own pace.
Because he does best with gentle handling and clear boundaries, Cosmo is not suited for a home with young children. He thrives in a calm environment where his cues are respected, and in return, he’ll reward his people with loyalty, affection, and endless entertainment.
Cosmo is fully house trained and also familiar with pee pads, giving his new family some flexibility. He could happily be the only dog in the home, but he also does well with canine companions who are respectful of his space. If you’re looking for a spirited little companion who will keep you laughing, join you on adventures, and snuggle up once trust is built – Cosmo just might be the one for you!
Meet Zeke — Quiet, Gentle, and Full of Love
Zeke has been in foster care for three months, and in that time he’s shown what a truly perfect companion he is. He’s never barked — making him an ideal fit for apartment living and for someone who appreciates peace and calm. When he needs to go out, he politely walks to the door, ready to take care of business.
Zeke is a senior boy, estimated to be between 13 and 15 years old. He recently had a dental and lost all his teeth, but that hasn’t slowed down his love for food — he adores mealtime! He does need to lose a few extra pounds, and slow, easy walks are his preference. Zeke isn’t in a hurry — he’d rather enjoy the scenery and take life at his own pace.
He has arthritis but still manages stairs independently, showing his resilience and sweet spirit. Zeke isn’t a lap dog, but he loves cuddles and being close to the special person in his life.
Zeke would be a wonderful match for a senior who isn’t very active but is looking for a devoted companion to share quiet moments with.
Meet Howard
Howard is a wonderful 10-year-old, medium-sized mixed breed with the most charming fox-like look. Originally said to be a Shepherd/Husky cross, he weighs about 40 lbs and stands approximately 19 inches tall — the perfect, manageable size for just about any home.
Howard is incredibly easygoing and settled into his foster home quickly, so we would expect him to adapt just as smoothly in his adoptive home. He’s quiet, low-maintenance, and makes friends easily. He truly is a simple, sweet soul who just wants to be part of the household.
We were told he may be reactive to cats and other dogs, though this hasn’t been verified. He does bark at the neighbour’s dog, but it doesn’t appear aggressive. On walks, he has not reacted to other dogs we’ve encountered. Occasionally other dogs may bark at him, but with a little positive reinforcement, Howard keeps his cool and doesn’t bark back. He absolutely loves his walks and enjoys getting out to explore.
Howard is fully house trained. When he needs to go outside, he politely walks to the back door and waits to be let out — such a gentleman.
He’s a big fan of comfort and loves napping on people beds if allowed. That said, he’s equally content stretching out anywhere in the house and happily sleeps in his own dog bed overnight. He enjoys being outside and appreciates having his people nearby. Howard does experience some separation anxiety; he may bark when you leave and it can last for a little while. Aside from that, he is a very quiet companion.
Howard will require a secure yard, as he may take advantage of an opportunity to go on a solo adventure and isn’t reliable with recall just yet.
Overall, Howard would make a lovely addition to a home looking for a calm, affectionate, and easy companion to share their days with.
Meet Buddy (6) and Chloe (8)
Buddy is pure love. He just wants to be wherever the foster parent is — if they’re sitting, he’s right beside them. He sleeps with the foster parent, seeks them out, and soaks up every bit of affection. He’s truly the sweetest little soul. He’s also fully house trained, making him an easy and wonderful companion in the home. Since coming into care, he’s done amazing with his weight loss and is now a healthy, happy boy. He can jump up on the bed, hop onto the couch — no limitations, just living his best life.
Chloe has always been more reserved, and that’s simply who she is. The foster parent spoke with the daughter of their previous owners, who shared that Chloe has always been the quieter one. She is also fully house trained and has lovely manners in the home. Each day they’re seeing her blossom a little more. She’s starting to come to the foster parent for love — not constantly, but in her own gentle way — and she’s choosing to be part of the family more and more. It’s really special to watch her confidence grow.
They both arrived overweight. Buddy has slimmed down beautifully, and while Chloe’s weight loss has been a bit more challenging, the foster parent is committed to helping her get there. It’s a work in progress, and they’ll continue cheering her on every step of the way.
If you’re looking for a sweet, loving pair to welcome into your home, Buddy and Chloe would love to meet you.
Meet Dexter
Sweet 16-year-old Dexter has officially been in rescue for 130 days and is more than ready to find his forever family. This 12-pound miniature schnauzer is the definition of a perfect lap dog — compact, cuddly, and always happiest right by his person’s side.
Dexter enjoys meeting new dogs and making polite new friends, but he would truly shine as an only child where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself. And honestly? He deserves it.
True to his terrier roots, Dexter can be a little spicy when first meeting new people — but once you’re part of his inner circle, you’re in for life. From that moment on, you’ll be greeted with his signature wiggly tail and unwavering loyalty every time you walk through the door.
Don’t let his age fool you! While Dexter appreciates a good sleep-in and never turns down an opportunity for a nap, he still loves his walks, car rides, and the occasional adventure. He’s the perfect balance of chill companion and curious sidekick.
Dexter is both crate trained and house trained, and he’s a very polite communicator. He’s not a big barker — he only uses his voice when he wants something, which makes him a wonderful apartment-friendly dog.
Last fall, Dexter bravely underwent major surgery to remove a large tumour and has recovered beautifully. He does have a heart condition that is managed with lifelong medication, but aside from that, he’s a very sweet, healthy (and adorably toothless!) senior gentleman.
Dexter is ready to be someone’s shadow, snuggle buddy, and loyal best friend. If you’re looking for a devoted little sidekick with a big heart, Dexter just might be your guy.
