Host an Event for the Rescue Dogs

From adoption days to brewery yappy hours, community partners make our work possible. Here are the types of events you can host to help senior dogs find their forever homes.

Every Event Starts With a Community Willing to Help

Before the Bridge Senior K9 Rescue is entirely volunteer-run. We rely on partner stores, local businesses, and community members to host events that raise funds and connect our senior dogs with loving families. Whether you have a venue, a business, or simply an idea and energy, there's a way for you to help.

Types of Events

Find the Right Event for You

Adoption Days

Host a weekend meet-and-greet at your pet store, grooming salon, or community hall where families can meet our senior dogs and fill out an adoption application on the spot.

Best for: Pet stores, groomers, vet clinics with floor space and weekend foot traffic.

Yappy Hour at a Brewery

A dog-friendly afternoon or evening at a local brewery or taproom where a portion of sales goes to the rescue. The venue gets customers, we get visibility and a donation, and guests get to mingle with their pups.

Best for: Dog-friendly breweries, cideries, and patios - especially spring through fall.

Pup Walk / Pledge Walk

A sponsored walk where participants register, collect pledges from friends and family, and walk a set route with their dogs. Add sponsor booths and prizes to grow the impact.

Best for: Parks and trail organizations willing to host a fun, family-friendly walk.

Doggie Yard Sale

A community sale of new and gently-used dog items at bargain prices. Donated goods do the work - every dollar raised goes straight to the senior dogs in our care.

Best for: Community centres, churchyards, or a generous driveway with parking.

Puppy Yoga & Fitness

Partner with a local studio for a puppy yoga class, dog-friendly bootcamp, or agility demo. Admission and add-on donations support the rescue while participants get a memorable workout.

Best for: Yoga studios, gyms, and recreation centres open to a playful twist.

Pet Portrait Days

Book a professional photographer and offer mini pet portrait sessions for a donation. Families receive a keepsake photo and the rescue receives the session fees.

Best for: Photographers, pet boutiques, and studios with space for a backdrop.

Dine-to-Donate Nights

A restaurant agrees to donate 10-20% of sales on a specific night. You bring the supporters, the restaurant brings theirs - a full house on a slow night and a cheque for the rescue at the end.

Best for: Any local restaurant, pub, or cafe willing to share a night's proceeds.

Raffles & Silent Auctions

Collect donated items and experiences - pet gear, gift cards, artwork - and run a raffle or silent auction at your event or online. Pair it with any gathering above to boost the total raised.

Best for: Any event that draws a crowd, or run fully online with donated prizes.

Bake Sales

A classic community bake sale - cookies, cupcakes, and dog-friendly treats donated by volunteers and supporters. Low cost to run and a great way to meet neighbours while raising funds for the senior dogs.

Best for: Schools, community centres, pet stores, or any spot with steady foot traffic.

How It Works

Four Simple Steps to Hosting

01

Share Your Idea

Tell us the type of event, your venue, and a rough date. We'll confirm it fits our calendar and volunteer capacity.

02

Plan Together

We'll pair you with a rescue coordinator, supply signage and adoption materials, and help you set a fundraising goal.

03

Promote It

We'll share your event with our supporters on social media and our newsletter, and ask you to spread the word too.

04

Host & Support the Dogs

Run the event, meet fellow dog lovers, and know that every dollar raised goes to the senior dogs in our care.
