Meika

Age: 6 years
Meika is a 6-year-old Dachshund cross with a BIG personality packed into a little body! This sweet girl is cute as a button and loves her squeaky toys, running around, and—most importantly—her people. She’s a happy, playful girl who will happily sit on your lap and make sure you know whenever someone (or something) enters the yard. Meika can be dog reactive, so proper, patient introductions are important. She can also be protective of her people, so she’s looking for a dog-savvy adopter who understands her quirks and will help her thrive. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion with plenty of personality, Meika might be your girl!

Jasper

Age: 5 years
Meet JASPER, a 5-year-old purebred Bichon Frisé weighing just 10–12 lbs. He’s fully vetted, healthy, house trained, great on leash and loves walks, car rides and being close to his people. Jasper came from a very loving home complete with his own crib and monogrammed pillows so he’s definitely accustomed to the finer things in life. Jasper is affectionate and devoted once he feels safe, but he needs a patient home that will give him time to adjust and respect his boundaries. He can be wary of strangers and may give a warning nip if uncomfortable, so older, dog-savvy children are best. He does well with other dogs, would love someone home often, and of course expects a spot in the human bed.

Chole

Age: 8-9 years
Through no fault of her own, sweet Chloe is looking for a new family. After her owner was hospitalized and is unable to return home, Chloe is now searching for a loving forever home. Approximately 8–9 years old, Chloe is an affectionate, gentle girl who loves being with her people. She has always been the only pet and would do best in a home where she can remain the centre of attention. She had surgery on both knees when she was younger, so she takes life at a slower pace, but still enjoys spending time with her family.

Ziggy

Age: 11 year
Many of you have been asking about Ziggy. Sadly, he’s still in boarding while he waits for a foster or forever home. Ziggy is an 11-year-old, active, loyal boy who would do best as the only pet with someone experienced with large dogs. After losing the only home he’d ever known, he deserves a second chance. If you can foster or adopt Ziggy, we’d love to hear from you. His boarding costs have now exceeded $1,000, and donations of any amount to help with his care are greatly appreciated.

Molly & Asker

Molly is a 10–13-year
Asker is a 7-year-old

Meet MOLLY & ASKER, a bonded pair looking for a loving home where they can stay together. Molly is a 10–13-year-old terrier mix who is affectionate, cuddly and happiest close to her people. She has separation anxiety, is working on weight loss, and has some medical needs including a partially torn CCL and an eye that requires further assessment. She enjoys gentle walks and would do best with someone home much of the day. Asker is a 7-year-old, 14 lb Shih Tzu/Terrier mix who is house trained, loves walks and is very bonded to Molly. She can be fearful and reactive with strangers and other dogs, so she needs an experienced, patient home committed to positive training and respecting her boundaries. A house with a secure fenced yard, no cats or small animals, and preferably older dog-savvy children would be ideal.

Theo

Age: 1 year
Theo, our once-stray little guy, has settled into his foster home and his personality is shining! At just one year old, he’s playful, curious, affectionate, and convinced everyone should be his best friend. He loves dogs, gets along well with other cats, and is always ready for fun. Theo is FIV positive, but it doesn’t slow him down one bit. He’s healthy, happy, and can live a long, normal life—he just needs a family willing to look beyond the diagnosis and see the wonderful cat he truly is. If you’re looking for a playful, cuddly companion, Theo is ready to find his forever home.

Bronco

Age: 4-6 years
Bronco is back with the rescue through no fault of his own, and this boy deserves a fresh start. After coming to us from Winnipeg Animal Services, we learned that Bronco thrives as the only dog in the home. He’s a confident, active, and loyal companion who simply wants a person to call his own.

Despite being moved from foster care to boarding and then into an adoption that didn’t work out, Bronco has never stopped loving people. What he needs now is a stable home with someone who understands he’s happiest as the only pet. Edgar

Age: 6 Months
Edgar is a 6-month-old Chihuahua mix with a playful personality and an adorable face to match. Once he feels comfortable, he loves to play, explore, and have fun. He can be a little shy around new people, especially men, but with patience and kindness, he quickly begins to shine. Edgar is making great progress with his house training and would benefit from having a canine playmate. Kids and cats are currently untested.

Edgar is looking for a patient, loving family to help him grow into a confident little companion. In return, he’ll reward you with loyalty, laughter, and plenty of puppy charm.

Jose

Age: 12 year

Say hello to Jose, a handsome 11 lb chocolate-brown Chihuahua who came into Before The Bridge on August 20th. At around 12 years old, Jose has the frosty face, little frosty paws, cataracts and some arthritis in his hips that come with being a distinguished senior gentleman. But don’t let his age fool you — this little guy still loves car rides and walks, and he’s doing wonderfully in his foster home! He’s house-trained, has had no issues in foster, and his bloodwork came back great. His heart and lungs are healthy, his heartworm test was negative, and no concerning lumps were detected. Jose can be a little barky when he first meets someone, but he just needs a moment to decide you’re safe. Once he realizes you’re not a threat… congratulations, you’re his friend!

Tyson

Age: 12 year
Due to breed-specific legislation, Tyson must be adopted outside the City of Winnipeg

Tyson is a lovable 12-year-old, 70-lb Staffie who lives for people, food, walks, and carrying around his favourite toys. He’s fully house trained, can free roam when alone, and loves everyone—although his enthusiastic greetings mean he’s best without small children and with dog-savvy cats. Tyson is deaf and receives monthly Librela injections for arthritis but has adapted wonderfully. He’s looking for a family who appreciates slobber, laughs, and lots of love.

Roxy

Age: 11 year

Roxy is an 11-year-old, 30-lb Corgi/Terrier mix looking for her forever home. She’s a sweet, quiet companion who loves children, gets along well with other dogs, is house and pee-pad trained, and travels beautifully.

Roxy enjoys daily walks, which are important to help manage calcium buildup between her vertebrae. She also eats Royal Canin Urinary food following a previous bladder infection. She can be a little stubborn when she’s having fun outside, but she’s becoming more affectionate every day and is learning just how wonderful it is to feel safe and loved.

Charlie Waters

Age: 14 years old

Meet Charles, a charming 14-year-old gentleman looking for a new home after his longtime companion could no longer care for him. Charles is friendly, social, and happiest by his human’s side. He loves walks, car rides, garden exploring, naps, treats, and plenty of pets. He’s hard of hearing, but a good clap gets his attention! He currently lives happily with cats, foster kittens, and other dogs and considers just about everyone a friend. Charles is fully house-trained, has had a full dental, is up-to-date on vaccines, and weighs approximately 23 lbs. His perfect home? Someone who is home most of the time and would love a loyal little shadow to share their days with.

Pierre

Age: 6 years old
Pierre may be small, but he’s convinced he’s at least 100 pounds and takes his self-appointed security job very seriously. Loyal to the core, he loves walks, car rides, cuddles, and will happily follow his favourite person everywhere. Once you earn his trust, you’ll have a devoted companion for life. Pierre is looking for a quiet home where he can be the only pet. He prefers meeting new people on his own terms and forms deep bonds with his family, so he’d do best with someone who is home often and understands he can be anxious when left alone. If you’re looking for a funny, affectionate little shadow with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Pierre could be your perfect match. Pierre does have a seizure disorder, but the good news is that it’s well controlled with medication. As long as he stays on his medication, he’s doing great and doesn’t let it slow him down one bit.
